Dana B Tatum
Dana B. Tatum is a first generation American photographer and artist, whose photographic work explores themes of nurturance, feminism, natural beauty, birth, and the tension between fantasy and reality.
She came to photography after a decade-long career as a jewelry artist, returning to the medium as a personal necessity after the birth of her first child and an experience with PPA in 2020. Tatum engages with the grief, joy, beauty and intimacy found in parenthood in her work with family clients and her lived experience as a mother of two young children. Her work examines the fragile space between fantasy and lived experience, questioning the cultural idealization of motherhood and documenting the act of nurturance.
She is based in Richmond, Virginia.
